About the course

This free-of-charge International taxation course will consist of series of lectures delivered by ITC Leiden alumni. This may be helpful for continuous education, career, selection of focus for further self-development.

Prof. Kees van Raad

Kees van Raad is Professor of International Tax Law, Chairman of the International Tax Center and Director of the Adv LLM Program in International Tax Law at the University of Leiden. He is a Visiting Professor at various foreign law and business schools, and holds professorial appointments at the New York University Law School and at Beijing University Law School. Prof. Van Raad worked for several years at the International Department of the Dutch Ministry of Finance and serves as a judge at a regional Netherlands tax court, specializing in international cases. He is Chairman of the Board of the European Association of Tax Law Professors. His publications include IBFD’s co-publication “The Interpretation of Income Tax Treaties with Particular Reference to the Commentaries on the OECD Model”.

Victor Matchekhin

Victor is the head of the Linklaters Tax practice in Moscow. He has extensive experience advising international investors on taxation issues relating to setting up and structuring of their operations in Russia, corporate reorganisations and restructurings, M&A, CFC, taxation of transactions with corporate shares, GDRs, bonds and derivatives, other financial products and IPOs. He deals with the Russian tax authorities both before and during tax audits and is often asked to provide further tax advice to supplement tax accountants’ opinions. His experience includes advising western investors on the application of double tax treaties in Russia and tax litigation.

Mario Tenore

Monia Naoum

International Tax & Transfer Pricing Consultant/ Adviser Monia Naoum is an international tax consultant. Until 2017, she worked at IBFD as Managing Senior in the Africa, Middle East and Latin America Knowledge Group. She is a tax expert specializing in the tax systems of around 15, mainly Arabic and French-speaking, countries in the Middle East, and North and francophone Africa. She has been an author and editor of various publications in the IBFD Tax Research Platform. Ms Naoum participated regularly in cross-border taxation research projects and client-tailored research in IBFD. She lectures on International Taxation and Transfer Pricing for IBFD International Tax Training, and at the advanced LLM programmes in International Tax Law of the universities of Leiden and Amsterdam, the Netherlands. She speaks on recent trends in international taxation in meetings and international conferences in Europe and Africa.

Ms.Yimin Kou

Partner at Beijing Jingsh Law Firm Yimin Kou is a partner at Beijing Jingsh Law Firm, prior to joining Jingsh Law Firm, Yimin is a partner of Beijing Ruibai Law Firm, which is an independent law firm and a member of the PwC global network of firms. She graduated from the Law School of Peking University (JM) and obtained her master’s degree from the International Tax Centre of Leiden University (Master in International Tax Law). In 2015 and 2018, Yimin acted as the lead counsel against the Chinese State Taxation Administration in two tax administrative reconsideration cases (transfer pricing) which separately were the very first and second case of such kind in China. A tax administrative litigation case in which Yimin acted for a Chinese SOE was selected as first of the Top 10 Most Influential Judicial Precedents in Taxation of 2018 with top clicks among tax litigation cases till now. Yimin also helped to draft the NPC suggestions, the suggestion regarding refund of overpaid VAT in 2019 has been accepted by the draft Chinese VAT Law. Ichwan Sukardi

Managing Partner - Tax at RSM INDONESIA Ichwan obtained his LLM in International Tax from the International Tax Centre - Leiden University. He is a registered tax consultant, and also a registered Tax Attorney at the Indonesian Tax Court since 1997. Prior to joining RSM Indonesia, he served as a Tax Partner at KPMG in Indonesia and was the Energy and Natural Resources Sector leader within the firm. Ichwan expericend the real industry exposures being the head of Corporate Tax of PT Medco Energi Internasional TBK, the Indonesian largest oil and gas listed company during 2012-2015.
